MARQUEE PROJECTS is pleased to present BISCUITS, BISCUITS, BISCUITS, a solo exhibition of recent work by Taylor A. White. This will be his first exhibition at the gallery and will include many of his mixed media stitched canvases.

In the words of art critic Peter Frank,“In this world of hyperinfo and overload, Taylor White has chosen a path to order - or rather re-order - the distracting conditions many of us face in today’s fast paced Digital Age… It is as if White is picking his way carefully through a vastjunkyard of shapes and ideas, mining it not so much for what is generally thought valuable but for what he can render coherent. Meaning is renewed in this ongoing adventure among the miscellany -- a meaning found not in forms themselves but in their newly awakened compositions…. By looking at White’s work we don’t simply see something, we feel something, and feel it with our skin…. To be sure, White’s funky, exuberant designs look pretty stimulating on screen; one can readily imagine them animated. But one doesn’t need to: they animate themselves as they hang on the wall, employing a cartoon vocabulary in telling very oblique but very funny narratives. This is laugh-out-loud painting, but you dare to laugh because the paintings’ physicality is so assured. In the digital tsunami, White’s painting laughs back.”

Taylor Whitegraduated with a B.A. from University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, VA. He is the recipient of Emil R. Schnellock Award for Excellence in Painting, 2016and the Purchase Award - Annual Student Art Exhibition 2015 both from the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, VA. White has exhibited nationally at McGuireWoods Gallery in Lorton, VA, Artspace Warehouse in Los Angeles, CA, The Directed Art Modern in Miami, FL, Leedy-Voulkos Art Center, Kansas City, MO and soon internationally at BEERS London, UK.
